Lit à la Polonaise
A Regency design adapted from the Indies, originally hung with mosquito nets.
The Polonaise bed developed in France in the 18th century and has a frame whose posts rise to curved metal arms supporting a corona, which can be flat or domed.
This style makes a very pretty effect particularly with silk or sheer dressings. The frame can be painted or polished and sometimes has a foot board as shown in these examples.
